Job Role: Intern – IT Operations
Job Summary
The Intern – IT Operations role focuses on providing first-level IT support and assisting with daily IT operational activities. The intern will act as a single point of contact for local IT, support incident resolution, follow ITIL processes, and gain exposure to enterprise systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Operations Intern, you will be responsible for:
IT Support & Incident Handling
- Providing 1st Level Support for server, network, and application-related incidents
- Acting as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for local IT issues
- Resolving basic issues using documented procedures (start/stop services, reboot servers, password resets)
Incident Escalation & Coordination
- Initiating and coordinating escalation procedures during service disruptions
- Identifying the responsible team or individual for affected systems or applications
- Escalating issues based on a clear understanding of IT organization and processes
IT Operations & Systems Support
- Performing approved operational tasks for:
- Windows Operating Systems
- Unix (AIX)
- Linux (SLES)
- Databases (Oracle, MSSQL)
- Supporting operational activities related to servers, file systems, and backup environments
ITIL & Monitoring
- Following ITIL-based processes for Change, Incident, and Service Management
- Working with Brose CMDB and IT Service Management tools
- Monitoring monitoring tools for alerts and handling escalations
Backup & Audit Support
- Installing, configuring, monitoring, and managing backup environments
- Supporting restore tests and audit requirements when needed
- Resolving alerts related to backup servers and file systems
Candidate Profile & Skills Required
Technical Skills
- Windows OS
- VMware (ESXi, vCenter Client)
- Unix (AIX) and Linux (SLES)
- Basic Networking Concepts
- Exposure to Oracle and MSSQL databases
- Understanding of ITIL processes
Experience & Availability
- Exposure to L1 Technical Support in IT companies (internship or academic exposure acceptable)
- Willingness to work in 24×7 rotating shifts
- Strong interest in learning new technologies
Soft Skills & Work Ethic
- Ability to identify and set task priorities
- Ability to perform under pressure situations
- Proactive attitude with a sense of ownership and responsibility
- Good communication and coordination skills
