This role is designed for engineers who not only write high-quality code but also lead architectural discussions, mentor teams, and drive modernization at scale. You will work on METRO’s global Quality Management System, a mission-critical platform used across multiple countries to standardize and streamline quality assurance processes.

Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer / Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in evolving METRO’s global Quality Management platform. This system currently operates on a large, complex codebase with tightly coupled frontend and backend components.
Your responsibility will be to:
- Guide the transformation into modular, scalable components
- Maintain performance, reliability, and design consistency
- Lead technical decision-making in collaboration with architects
- Mentor engineers and raise overall engineering standards
This role combines technical depth, leadership, and long-term architectural influence.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Development
- Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications using React, Redux, Material UI
- Build and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Work with microservices architectures and distributed systems
Architecture & Modernization
- Lead the modularization of large monolithic frontend and backend systems
- Drive architectural discussions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Implement workflow-driven systems using Camunda (CIB7 preferred)
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor mid-level engineers and promote a culture of learning
- Review code, enforce clean coding standards, and guide best practices
- Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and stakeholders
DevOps & Cloud
- Support cloud-native deployments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Work with Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, and CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure performance, security, and scalability across environments
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Frontend: React, Redux, Material UI, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices
- Workflow Automation: Camunda (CIB7 preferred)
- Service Mesh: Istio or similar technologies
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins X, etc.)
- Testing: Automated testing across frontend and backend
- Communication: Strong English communication skills
